Explorando América Latina: la cocina

Class Activities:

The first activity was an information gap activity, where each students had different information and they needed to work together to solve a problem. The activity was related to recipes and ingredients, which we are going to use for our upcoming time in the kitchen.

  • receta (recipe)
  • taza (cup)
  • cucharada (tablespoon)
  • cucharadita (teaspoon)

We will be cooking on Friday, and went over and agreed to some rules to the kitchen.

  • lavarse las manos
  • tener mucho cuidado con los cuchillos
  • limpiar la cocina antes del fin de la clase
  • hablar en español

We went over some basic appliances in the kitchen:
* refrigeradora
* estufa
* horno
* fregadero

Students are going to spend the next several weeks studying the country they've chosen from the Spanish-speaking world. They are going to put together a book talking about what they've learned about the country. Students had the remainder of class to work on the page of their book related to food. They could use the worksheet they answered questions about from our last class to create a text talking about food from their country.

Tarea: rough draft of food page of their book is due Friday. Also several students did not complete their corrections to their test and need to bring those in Friday. Students should go directly to the kid's kitchen for class on Friday.
