Ocio: review and talking about break

Class Activities:

Students arrived and wrote about their breaks for warm-up activity.

Students chose one thing to share about their break with other students. Each student asked ¿Qué hiciste durante las vacaciones? to every student in class. As a big group, I asked what each student did.

To practice some of our vocabulary around ocio, students listened to statements and responded appropriately. Si tu deporte favorito es beisbol, levántate. (If your favorite sport is baseball, stand up). Students responded to statements about their hobbies.

Repaso

Class Activities:

Students wrote down the poem about months from memory as our warm up activity.

This week, we are bringing together vocabulary and concepts we've learned so far this year. Students were given categories and had 3 minutes to write down as many words as they could remember related to the category. Category 1: cosas en la escuela (things in a school), categoria 2: partes del cuerpo (parts of the body), categoria 3: adjetivos. We went over vocabulary words and students got a point for each word they had written down.

Tarea: For extra credit, students can recite the poem about months (attached) at the beginning of class Wednesday.

Students conjugated verbs tener and vener for warm up activity.

As a class, we went over answers from Tuesday's activities and students handed in their worksheet.

Every Thursday, we will start doing some listening comprehension practice for a higher level of proficiency. Handed out attached worksheet (parte 2 of listening comprehension) and students went through pictures and wrote down vocabulary they knew related to the pictures. As a class, we went over what the questions are asking. Students then listened to this activity and chose the correct drawing. This activity ended up being challenging for students which shows we should be practicing a bit more (next time a bit easier!).

Tiempo: poema de los meses

Class Activities:

Students arrived and corrected their quiz they took Monday using notes. If they were unable to finish in the first 5 minutes of class, they need to finish as homework.

Students called out the months which I wrote on the board. I presented a poem that talk about weather and we learned weather-related phrases. The poem is attached.

After going over the meaning of the poem, students were given attached sheet with photos. There are 12 photos, each matching a description of a month from the poem. Students were to cut out the photos, put them in order and paste them on a big sheet of construction paper. Along with the photos, students wrote the whole poem.
