Examen final

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and took the end of the year test covering what we've learned this year (grammar, culture, leisure activities, festivals, music). If your student missed class, please have them take the attached test. The first section is multiple choice, they then have to give the definition to a list of verbs we studied during the music unit. On the second page, they need to use the words in bold below to fill in the blanks. Some words are used more than once.

After completing the test, they filled out an evaluation.

Thursday will be our last class this year.

Notice above that the verb only changes for singular (gusta--el helado) or plural (gustan--las moñtanas).

We spent the remained of class reviewing for Friday's test. Questions for Friday's test will include information we covered in big review on Monday. Students should have a blue sheet of paper with vocabulary from all of our units.

Repaso del año

Class Activities: 

Students completed do now activity going over verb conjugations we learned earlier in the year:

  1. ¿Cómo se forma el presente progresivo en español (She is working)?
  2. ¿Cómo se forma el futuro cercano en español (I am going to study)?
  3. ¿Cómo conjugamos el verbo gustar?
  4. Escribe las conjugaciones para verbos en el pasado
    hablar comer

We went over above conjugations.

In small groups, students were to come up with a review game using the 10 questions they wrote as homework. They could use any of the supplies in the Spanish room, plus posterboard, paper, notecards and little white boards.

Thursday we will be spending the class reviewing, the following Tuesday will be a test on everything we've covered this year. In the remaining time next Tuesday we will film the remaining telenovela scenes. The last class is next Thursday and we will be watching our telenovela scenes and having a fun wrap-up class.

REPASO FINAL

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and wrote down all of the different units we've seen this year in Spanish.

As a group, we wrote all of the topics we've studied on the board. For each topic, we branched and wrote about everything in that unit we learned. Ej. Casa: cuartos en la casa (habitación, cocina, sala, cuarto de baño), verbos (ducharse, leer, dormir, despertarse, cocinar, etc.). Student took notes which they took home to study for review on Wednesday and a test Friday.

Tarea: study the notes students took for big review Wednesday.

Students arrived and corrected the errors in each of these sentences:

  1. Él duchándose.
  2. Yo estoy cocinar.
  3. Ellos estamos comiendo.
  4. Ella está duchando.

As a "test" of what students got out of our unit on the house, I described a house and things in a house while students drew the house I was describing. I also explained what four people in the house were doing.

Tarea: bring Spanish binder to class on Monday.

Telenovela y repaso

Class Activities: 

Student were to arrive ready to film their telenovela scene. Since several students were gone, we were unable to film and will be filming next and the following Tuesday. Since many students will be gone next week, we decided to add an extra class to the end of the year. Our schedule for Spanish will be:
May 17: filming for students who are present, review games
May 19: Review games
May 24: filming for remaining scenes and end of year test
May 26: watch Telenovela scenes and fiesta

The remainder of class was dedicated to reviewing what we've learned this year. We went through all the important categories of things we learned along with specific information in each category.

Tarea: students need to bring in 10 review questions for Tuesday.

Reviewed how to form the present progressive in Spanish.

Class activity to practice present progressive

Students received white boards and markers. One student acted out one of the verbs we've been working on while students wrote what the person was doing:
* Está duchándose.
* Está despertándose.
* Está leyendo.

I gave students some sentences with errors which they had to correct.
* Está ducharse. (Should be está duchándose).
* Yo relajando. (Should be yo estoy relajando).
* Está acostando. (Should be acostándose).

Tarea: students should review vocabulary and verbs related to our house unit. On Friday students will listen to me describe a house with things in a house and people doing various activities. Their drawing will be graded for accuracy.

Students had remainder of class to practice their scene and talk about props and costumes since we will be filming scenes on Thursday.

Several students were gone last week, so we reviewed and continued talking about how to form the present progressive in Spanish.

Students received a worksheet with a drawing of a house and several different activities that take place in a house. Before leaving class, they had to write 2 sentences like: Estoy relajando en el salón (I am relaxing in the living room).

Tarea: write 10 sentences using the present progressive describing what people are doing in different parts of the house.
