We are going to be studying the 100 most common verbs to increase student vocabulary. We went over the definitions and students should start learning any of these verbs they don't already know.
We went over some vocabulary used in a restaurant setting:
* mesero
* la carta
* el menú del día
* la cuenta
* pedir = ordenar
* quisiera
* tenedor + cuchillo + cuchara + servilleta = cubierto
* propina
In groups of 3, students practiced a conversation in a restaurant. We are currently practicing conversations in different settings so that students can practice and become more comfortable speaking in everyday situations.
Students were each assigned a topic that we've studied to some extent in the past but students need some review. Each student must teach a mini-lesson (5 minutes or less) and then plan an activity to practice their concept. Students will be teachers starting on Thursday and for the next several classes. For example, if a student were assigned "body parts" for their topic, they might draw a body on the board and call on students to share vocabulary until all the body parts are written on the board. The activity could be a game like Simon Says so that students get practice with what they've just learned.
Tarea: prepare mini-lesson and activity to practice concept. Students will be teaching starting Thursday. If your student has a tough topic and needs some help, they can talk to me before or after class tomorrow.
