3rd Period Matrix: Wed Jan 29

Class Activities: 

-Students read "La isla bonita" and underlined the uses of "saber" and "conocer". We discussed why verbs were used in each sentence.
-We watched "La policia mexicana", an SNL skit that plays jokes on Spanish class videos. Students began working in groups to create their own skits based on the video.
-TAREA: There is a worksheet on the reading due Friday.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Jan 29

Class Activities: 

-Students read a story including use of verbs "ser" and "estar".
-We reviewed previous homework and activities for practice with these verbs. We will have a quiz on them Friday in class. If a student misses class Friday, they need to arrange a time to make up the quiz.
-We talked about setting high expectations for ourselves for behavior in class.
-TAREA: Study for the quiz

AS Beginner: Wed Jan 29

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs "ser" and "tener".
-We talked about concordance, matching the articles and adjectives endings to the noun.
-Elliot and Sloan shared their monster with the class.
-We learned vocab for the Dominican Republic.
-TAREA: Complete your passport, if you haven't yet. Also, there is a worksheet on concordance due Friday.

Class Activities: 

Students translated:

  1. How much does it cost?
  2. Do you accept credit cards?
  3. I only have cash.
  4. I don't have money with me.
  5. It is expensive.
  6. It is cheap.

We drilled present, present progressive and preterite verb conjugations by standing in a circle and tossing around a ball.

Students had the remainder of the class to put together their business and make a sign for their table. Students will be selling to each other and to the other class this Friday, January 31st.

Students completed hypothetical questions (Would you eat chicken feet?) and then worked in groups of 3 to discuss the questions.

Tarea: complete two sided worksheet about conditional. Next class we will be learning about Merengue with Kimber's class and will meet in Kimber's class or in the computer lab (I will write on our board where we'll be).

We did an activity drilling verbs (present, present progressive, preterite)

They had the rest of the class to work on their business they are creating and will be selling on the 31st of January.

tarea: review verb conjugations to be able to do drilling activity faster

AS High Beginner: Tues Jan 28

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed our answers for the trivia on Dominican Republic.
-The class created an invitation to the Fiesta de Merengue on Feb 4 for Nikki's class. On this day, students will present their projects to both classes and we will celebrate merengue.
-We played Simon Dice.
-TAREA: students have a reading to complete for Thursday. Extra copies are outside my room.
