Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about a picture.
-We reviewed common conversational topics and learned new commands.
-We practiced vocabulary to use for presenting the fruit stand project. We will present in class on Friday.

Students arrived and took the quiz below matching the situations given with an appropriate idiomatic expression.

Students need to practice some conversation, so we went over some connector words:

Students practiced an introductory conversation and we went over mistakes.

Students went over a conversation talking about family and we went over some mistakes.

Next class we are going to introduce the conditional verb tense we did some verb practice/drilling in class.

Tarea: study 100 most common verbs and present, past, near future conjugations if the whiteboard drills were tricky for you today.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and completed a quick quiz. They had to match (using their personal dictionary) the phrase they know in Spanish that would be the most appropriate for the given situation. Ej. Situation: It's raining really hard outside. Idiom: It's raining cats and dogs.

  1. No hay más donas de chocolate. Lose estudiantes que llegaron temprano las comieron.

We went over the quiz and talked about them.

We did scategories with several more letters to practice and expand vocabulary.

Tarea: to practice our frases hechas more, we will have another quiz on Tuesday to practice. Study phrases of the day and make sure you understand their meaning (you can ask me at the beginning of class if you want to understand any of them better).

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and ready two quick texts about how students spent their vacations and had to answer some questions.

Students conversed briefly in pairs about their break and what they did.

Palabra del día: pasarlo bien (to have fun, literally, to pass it well)

We learned some vocabulary to express opinions:

  • (no) pienso que...

Students were split into groups and had a few minutes to prepare their side of the debate (Mexico is better than Argentina/Argentina is better than Mexico). One student presented opening arguments and students will have a few minutes on Thursday for their 1 minute reaction.

Tarea: we will have a quick quiz on the phrases of the day on Thursday so students should study their personal dictionaries.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and got their presentation ready about Argentina and Mexico.

One group presented about Day of the Dead and included dancing, a game, food and a competition.

On Friday, a group will complete a quick tango review competition and other groups will present.

Tarea: students should study their words of the day for a quiz Friday.

AS High Beginner: Tues Jan 7

Class Activities: 

-Students read "Museos excepcionales" and answered questions about the reading.
-Students practiced answering questions out loud in partners.
-I handed out a list of 50 most common verbs in Spanish. Students need to study them at home and we will also practice with them in class.
-TAREA: Study common verb list. Karina will be subbing class on Thursday.
