AS Beginner: Fri Jan 24

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed vocab for describing someone.
-Students practiced conversation with Karina.
-The class created a monster together, which they will present next class.
-TAREA: none

Class Activities: 

Students translated 5 sentences using the conditional:

  1. She wouldn't live abroad.
  2. I would eat anything.
  3. They would help us.
  4. Would you travel to South Africa?
  5. We wouldn't leave the kitchen dirty.

We went over the poem Instantes that students had worked on for homework. We went over the meaning and also student interpretations which were very thoughtful:)

We went over the 12 irregular verbs in the conditional (that also share their irregular root with the future, which we will be learning).

Students started working in pairs to write 10 hypothetical questions of other students (ej. Would you sky dive?) We are going to finish questions and play a game of asking the questions next class.

Tarea: students got a worksheet they have one week to finish to practice the conditional

3rd Period Matrix: Wed Jan 22

Class Activities: 

-Students corrected sentences in Spanish.
-We played Simon Dice for review with body parts, actions, and items in the classroom
-We talked about the theme of the next quarter, Dominican Republic
-We discussed the "to know" verbs, "saber" and "conocer", and when to use each.
-TAREA: Students have a worksheet due Friday.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Jan 22

Class Activities: 

-Students did an Amazing Race activity around the school following directions to clues given in Spanish. The green group won!
-We talked about the "to be" verbs, "ser" and "estar". We discussed when to use each and the conjugations of them.
-TAREA: Students have a worksheet due Friday.

1st Period Matrix w/ Kimber: Wed Jan 22

Class Activities: 

-Students translated sentences from Spanish.
-We played a game for review.
-We talked a little about the next quarter's theme, Dominican Republic.
-We sang, "La bonita Sara" and learned phrases for the verb "tener".
-We played a game to practice with these phrases.
-TAREA: Students have a worksheet due Friday.

AS Beginner: Wed Jan 22

Class Activities: 

-Students read books out loud in partners.
-Students were given feedback on their Fruit Stand Project.
-We went over vocab used to describe people, and practiced describing classmates.
-Student were given materials to make a Spanish class passport.
-TAREA: work on your passport sheets at home

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and children's book aloud in pairs.

Palabra del día: avestruz

We reviewed some verb tenses:

  • presente
  • present progressive
  • preterite

Students were paired up and are coming up with a business. Students are from the Dominican Republic and are creating a business for tourists. Students need to discuss the service or product they will be providing and the pricing. We will have some more time in class on Friday and I will let them know when we will be selling.

Tarea: memorize conjugations we reviewed since we will be doing some verb drilling on Friday.
