Logan before school intermediates 4 de diciembre de 2013

Class Activities: 

Students wrote a postcard to someone from Argentina and some shared their postcards when they finished.

Palabra del día: muñeco de nieve

Students had 30 seconds to look at a bunch of school supplies and then had to write down everything they remembered (learning some new vocabulary)

Students worked in pairs practicing the present progressive by acting things out:

¿Qué estoy haciendo?
Estás escribiendo.

Tarea: students get to do a self-guided project about anything related to Argentina (architecture, regions, food, music, art) and can work alone or in pairs. They need to write a brief paragraph in Spanish about their plan for their project, expanding on their original idea a bit. Next class we will have time to work on the project.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Dec 4

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about Isabela.
-We continued reading "Las aventuras de Isabela".
-We watched videos of tango, the dance that comes from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
-TAREA: Students have a reading on tango. Copies are outside my classroom.

1st Period Matrix w/ Kimber: Wed Dec 4

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed days of the week and months of the year.
-Students were given worksheets with more conversation questions to learn and practice with.
-Students practiced conversation in partners with their gaucho figures.
-We watched a video on Iguazu Falls, the famous waterfalls in Argentina.
-TAREA: Students have a worksheet due Friday. Copies of homework and vocab are outside my classroom.

AS Beginner: Wed Dec 4

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed facts about Argentina and students practiced answering in complete sentences.
-We reviewed verbs and learned some body parts.
-Students were given vocab lists for words used to create a story.
-TAREA: Students need to create their own silly story using the vocab. They will be presenting them to the class.

Fluency level: 

AS High Beginner: Tues Dec 3

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed conversational topics and verbs.
-Kendal led our daily routine.
-Students began sharing their stories with the class.
-TAREA: Students have a reading "Juanito el ocupado". There is a vocab list to go along with the reading. Copies of both are outside my classroom.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and translated following sentences:
1. I used to run.
2. When I was a kid, I would eat a lot.
3. When I was 5, I went to France.
4. We went to my mom's house.
5. They traveled to México last year.

frase del día: por las dudas = por si las moscas

We played scategories where students were given letters and had to write down all the words they knew that started with that letter (letter P = pero, perro, por, para, etc.)

Students talked about La maldición de la cabeza reducida using attached prompts.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and categorized some vocabulary used around the holidays under which holiday it is used (ej. ofrenda --> Día de los muertos, luces --> januká). We went over the vocabulary as a group.

Students talked about their Thanksgiving traditions.

Palabra del día: agradecer = dar las gracias

We played a review game with Kimber reviewing information about: numbers, Argentina, Mexico, words of the day, vocabulary from today.

Tarea: no hay. Feliz día de acción de gracias!

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and categorized some vocabulary used around the holidays under which holiday it is used (ej. ofrenda --> Día de los muertos, luces --> januká). We went over the vocabulary as a group.

Students talked about their Thanksgiving traditions.

Palabra del día: agradecer = dar las gracias

We listened to this song by Fonseca called Gratitud and students wrote down what he talks about being thankful for in the song.

Students had the remaining minutes to talk about their project they will be doing related to Argentina.

Tarea: no hay. Feliz día de acción de gracias!
