Class Activities: 

Para empezar: students were given one word and had to write opposite (grande/pequeño)

Palabra del día: vaquero

Competición: we reviewed some words of the day, vocabulary about time, and information about Argentina in a brief competition.

Students had attached photos and were guided through a tour of Buenos Aires with prompts below:

Using the photos, students put the tour in order from 1-13.

Primero, vamos a visitar a dos personas importantes en la historia de Argentina.
1. Carlos Gardel era cantante de tango muy importante.
2. Eva Peron o Evita era la esposa de Presidente Juan Peron.
3. Despues vamos a visitar la casa del presidente: la Casa Rosada.
4. Luego, vamos a visitar la zona que se llama La Boca. En la Boca, las casas tienen diferentes colores interesantes.
5. Después, vamos a visitar el cementario de Recoleta, donde están enterradas muchas personas muertas de Argentina.
6. Luego, vamos a ver arte en el museo Malba.
7. Después, es necesario descansar y comer helado. En Buenos Aires, el helado es delicioso. Es muy similar al helado de Italia.
8. Luego, vamos a visitar los parques de Palermo. En el mapa de Buenos Aires, hay mucho espacio verde donde están los parques.
9. Después, vamos a ver una calle super grande cerca del centro.
10. En Buenos Aires hay mucho grafiti.
11. Luego, vamos a visitar una calle peatonal se llama Florida.
12. En la calle Florida, hay dos personas bailando tango.
13. Finalmente, vamos a visitar un monumento similar al monumento famoso en Washington D.C.

Went over answers and saw if students remembered details about the text (¿Cómo se llama el cantante de tango?)

NOTE: With Kimber's class, we are going to the Cultural center of the Mexican consulate to visit the Día de los muertos exhibit on Friday morning during class.

Tarea: write brief text about what the Día de los muertos is in preparation for our tour/field trip.

2nd Period Matrix: Fri Nov 15

Class Activities: 

-Students finished working on their version of "Angelica en Argentina". They presented their finished work to the class.
-We did a listening activity of a tour of Buenos Aires. Students sorted pictures by listening to the story.
-TAREA: Students have a worksheet due next class.

AS Beginner: Fri Nov 15

Class Activities: 

-Students translated sentences using review vocab.
-Students were given grades from their oral quiz.
-Students were given handouts on conversation questions for talking one on one and in groups.
-Students practiced group conversation using plural forms of verbs.
-TAREA: There is a worksheet to complete for next Wednesday. Next Friday we plan to take our field trip to a Dia de los Muertos exhibit.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and completed attached T/F questions about Argentina and we went over as a class.

Frase del día: dormir a pierna suelta

Students had 15 minutes to research and answer each other's questions (based on Argentine culture, famous people, and geography). What they did not complete is homework.

I did a short presentation about Argentina, including this video about Buenos Aires, Carlos Gardel, a River Plate vs Boca Juniors soccer game

Tarea: complete questions written by other students (culture, geography, famous people of Argentina).

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and we went over attached true false about Argentina.

Palabra del día: comelón/a

We reviewed present tense verb conjugation and then did a quick competition where students conjugated present progressive and present tense on the board based on verbs I gave them.

I did a quick presentation about Argentina, including a few videos of Buenos Aires and Places of interest in Argentina

Tarea: review verb conjugation (present progressive and present tense) if necessary.

AS High Beginner: Thurs Nov 14

Class Activities: 

-Students created an ending to our story about a rabbit named Star.
-Abby led our daily routine.
-We continued sharing our luchador characters with the class.
-Students compared answers for the "Hechos de Argentina" and we reviewed together.
-Students were given back their quizzes on present tense verbs.
-TAREA: none. We are planning to take a field trip next class to visit a Day of the Dead exhibit nearby.
