AS Beginner: Wed Oct 30

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed the verb "gustar" in singular and plural form.
-We reviewed what we learned about the Day of the Dead.
-Students made "papel picado" to add to our "ofrenda".
-TAREA: none. No class on Friday, 2nd quarter begins next Wednesday.

AS High Beginner: Tues Oct 29

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about the reading on Jose Guadalupe Posada. We discussed answers as a class and reviewed how to respond in complete sentences.
-Students made decorations for the school's "ofrenda" for Day of the Dead.
-TAREA: none--Today was the last day of 1st quarter. We have NO CLASS on Thursday and 2nd quarter begins next Tuesday.

3rd Period Matrix: Fri Oct 25

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed higher numbers in Spanish.
-Amelia led our daily routine.
-We reviewed answers for the "tortas" reading.
-I handed out conjugation sheets for past tense verbs.
-We played a game to practice understanding verb meanings.
-TAREA: We have a review quiz next Wednesday, including verb tenses and higher numbers. Students should study if needed.

2nd Period Matrix: Fri Oct 25

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed what we learned about Day of the Dead.
-We played Simon says for review.
-We did a reading on Jose Guadalupe Posada, a famous Mexican artist associated with Day of the Dead.
-Students began working on "catrinas". They need to dress a skeleton however they wish, and then write at least 5 sentences describing him/her.
-TAREA: Students may work on skeletons/sentences at home. We will have time in class next Wednesday.

AS Beginner: Fri Oct 25

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed what we learned about the Day of the Dead.
-Students made corrections on their previous homework.
-We practiced with vocabulary of Day of the Dead.
-Students made "Papel Picado" to decorate the "ofrenda".
-TAREA: Students have a vocab crossword puzzle to complete for next Wednesday.

Class Activities: 

Students completed the second half of attached sheet with questions about the book we're reading Las aventuras de Isabela

Students had 10 minutes to finish the book

Palabra del día: piel de gallina

We went over the present progressive and students listened to a song called "Nadie" with lyrics attached. Students first underlined all of the uses of the gerund (ing in English) and then filled in missing lyrics when we listened to the song.

Before school high intermediates 24 de octubre de 2013

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and set up their presentations. Students shared presentations with Kimber's class, and included a presentation about Mexico's best beaches, Chitzen Itza and Ruins in Mexico (focusing on Tulum and Teotihuacan).

Tarea: study for test on:
* 100 most common verbs
* present tense, preterite, close future which students had presented on and we've been reviewing since the beginning of the year
* phrases of the day
* basic information about Mexico (including things like who is the president, what animals are on the flag plus some information in presentations). This section will be multiple choice.
