-We took our field trip to Las Tortas. Students enjoyed several different types of Mexican sandwiches!

-We reviewed numbers.
-We did a spicy chocolate tasting, where students were able to try different chocolates with chilies in them. We rated them on taste, spice, and how much we liked them.

-We sang a song, "Pobre Juan" about a man who is sad that he doesn't get tortillas.

-We made pan de muerto and Mexican hot chocolate in the Kids Kitchen with Nikki's class.
-We didn't have time for our oral quiz, so we will take it next time.

-Our class got together with Nikki's class to make "Pan de Muerto", a typical sweet bread eaten during the festival el Dia de los Muertos in Mexico. We also made Mexican Hot Chocolate.

*We will be taking our field trip next Wednesday. We will meet in the Spanish room, like usual for class, and leave from there. We should be back by lunch, if not a few minutes late.

-Students reviewed present tense. We talked more about the quiz we will have next Wednesday (*Students in Sarah's class may take the quiz next Wednesday, if they feel prepared. If not, we will arrange another time next week)
-We looked at pictures of Aztec masks and read about the stones they used to decorate them.

-Students reviewed vocabulary on describing people.
-We practiced in partners on the vocabulary, asking and answering questions about what you look like.
-We reviewed what we learned about Frida Kahlo and looked at several of her paintings.
-I handed out instructions for our self-portrait project, inspired by Kahlo. We will begin working on this in class next week.

Students matched the frases hechas we've been learning with a description of what they mean (attached).

Students quizzed each other for a few minutes on vocabulary in their diccionario personal and the 100 most common verbs.
Students had the rest of class to work in the computer lab on their power point presentation. They are going to present on the 22nd.

-Students reviewed the verb "gustar".
-We practiced months of the year and commands.
-We talked about how to use "gustar" in singular and plural form.
-Students did a "Te gusta?" hunt to get signatures from classmates according to interests.
-TAREA: there is a worksheet to complete for Wednesday. Also, be prepared for the oral quiz on conversation questions.
