AS High Beginner: Tues Oct 1

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs.
-Students were given a reading on Lucha Libre and question sheets for the reading.
-TAREA: Finish the two question sheets on the reading (Come see me if you need another copy) ***Max/Jamie's class does not need to make up anything for today

2nd Period Matrix: Fri Sept 27

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed present tense verbs. Students were given a copy of the verb changer from last year.
-Students were given vocabulary on flavors, as well as a sheet on "ser" and "estar".
-We did a reading on the history of chillies and chocolate. We will work more on this next time.
-TAREA: Students should look over their reading and underline words they do not understand.

AS Beginner: Fri Sept 27

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed our reading about Daniela and Cristian, and what they like to do.
-We talked about the weather.
-Students practiced conversation in partners. We added a new question, "De donde eres?" Where are you from? and the response, "Soy de..." I am from...
-We reviewed the "me gusta" vocabulary with a quick game.
-TAREA: no homework, all students are gone next week

AS High Beginner: Thurs Sept 26

Class Activities: 

-Students were given a poster for a Lucha Libre event and answered questions about it.
-We watched a couple videos about Lucha Libre.
-Students were given instructions for our upcoming project to create a luchador character.
-TAREA: Begin thinking of ideas for your luchador so you are prepared to work next class. ****Students in Shae's class do not need to make up any work****

Before school intermediates 27 de septiembre

Class Activities: 

Para empezar: students asked each other about their personal information (last name, phone number, age, etc) and wrote it down practicing questions:

¿Cuál es tu...?
¿Cómo se escribe...?

Palabra(s) del día: pulpo (octopus), lo que sea (whatever)

We continue playing our review game where students answered questions related to:
* masculine/feminine nouns
* words of the day
* family members
* gustar

Students worked in pairs to draw a visual representation of everything they know about Mexico (flag, president, food, map, etc).

* 100 most common verbs

Class Activities: 

Students corrected their verb quiz and then continued with filling in necessary information on their map of Mexico.

For our next project, students are going to work in pairs to present a tourist attraction (city, ruins, mountains or beaches, Copper Canyon, etc) in a powerpoint presentation with photos and information about the place. We will have one full class period to work on this and then students may need to finish it for homework.

Students are also going to work in the same pairs to bring in some food or drink from Mexico. They don't need to bring anything complicated -- they can make something like an agua fresca and describe/share it with the class. Students signed up for the dates they will bring it in.

Tarea: we are going to start reading a book called La maldición de la cabeza reducida. Students got a copy and need to read to chapter 4 by the class after their trip (7 de septiembre).

3rd Period Matrix: Wed Sept 25

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed a few verbs in past tense.
-Talia led us through our class routine.
-We practiced commands as a group, and also played a game in partners.
-We talked about "la forma de mando" for verbs.
-Students were given a vocab list to look over at home.
-Students began working on "Hechos de Mexico" (Facts of Mexico). They looked online and in books to find the information.
-TAREA: Study vocab list and complete the "Hechos de Mexico"
