3rd Period Matrix: Wed Oct 23

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed present tense verbs and their meanings.
-Ela led our daily routine.
-We played a game to practice with verb conjugation. We focused on present tense verbs for all subjects.
-I answered any questions students had about their projects.
-TAREA: Students need to turn in their projects on Friday. They also need to bring in a packet of notecards for verb flash cards we'll make in class. Next Wednesday, we will have a quiz in class on review topics. They can look over things at home to be prepared.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed numbers 1-100.
-Students practiced conversation in partners.
-We read about Day of the Dead out loud in Spanish. We looked over useful vocabulary for this holiday.
-Students finished their Aztec turquoise masks.
-TAREA: question worksheet on Day of the Dead

AS Beginner: Wed Oct 23

Class Activities: 

-Students took an oral quiz on conversation questions.
-We reviewed common topics of conversation, including how to tell time.
-We read about the Mexican festival, Day of the Dead, and talked about the "ofrenda" we will be creating for the whole Logan community. Students learned vocab associated with the holiday and looked at photos from Mexico.
-TAREA: Study your vocab list at home; Complete the "gustar" worksheet for Friday.

Class Activities: 

Students translated sentences mixing present, past and futuro próximo for the first activity.

Frase del día: muchas manos en el plato hace mucho garabato

Students were going to present their powerpoints about places of interest in Mexico but we had some technical difficulties and will present next class.

Will and Portia brought in food from Mexico to share. Gracias!

Tarea: next Tuesday we will have a quick test about verbs in the present, past, futuro próximo and information we've learned about Mexico so they should start studying.

AS High Beginner: Tues Oct 22

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced with present tense in sentences and translating to English.
-We will have a quiz on Thursday over present tense verbs. Students may come in during lunch today or tomorrow if they need help reviewing before the quiz.
-We passed the ball around for practice conjugating verbs.
-Next class we will watch the presentations from Nikki's class.
-TAREA: Study for quiz

Class Activities: 

Students arrived in the kitchen and chose a group based on what they wanted to make (huevos, salsa, agua fresca: flor de jamaica). Students had certain ingredients and invented a recipe that they wrote down and shared with students at the end of class.

This is our last day of this unit in the kitchen cooking food typical in Mexico.

Tarea: students will be presenting their powerpoint about a tourist destination in Mexico on Tuesday so their presentations need to be ready to go.
