Logan before school intermediates 11 de octubre de 2013

Class Activities: 

We reviewed for a few minutes for students who came early and the first few minutes of class.

Students took review test (attached)

For students who had time, students read aloud in pairs and wrote down what happened by chapter Las aventuras de Isabela

Palabras de día: Pitufos (Smurfs), ombligo (belly button)

Tarea: no hay! Next Wednesday meet in the kid's kitchen since we'll be cooking in there:)

AS High Beginner: Thurs Oct 10

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs in present tense.
-Students worked on their luchador projects. They are due on arrival Tuesday Oct 15.
-We will soon be having a quiz on present tense verbs. Date is TBD.
-Next week we will be cooking in the kitchen with Nikki's class.
-TAREA: finish your project, if needed

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Oct 9

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about the chiles y chocolate reading.
-We went through the crossword puzzle together.
-We played a verb conjugation game for practice with present tense verbs.
-TAREA: students have a worksheet to complete (copies are outside my classroom). Also, we will be having a quiz on present tense next Wednesday in class.

1st Period Matrix w/ Kimber: Wed Oct 9

Class Activities: 

-We discussed the class routine and what is expected of students for Spanish class.
-We learned and practiced a chant that is about prepositions.
-Students were given vocab lists on how to describe themselves or other people (attached below). They completed the practice part on the second page on their own.
-We read a story in class about a Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, who will be the inspiration for our upcoming project.
-TAREA: There is a worksheet to complete. If you missed class, please print this off or pick it up outside my classroom. Also, do the translation work on the 2nd page of the vocab list.

Class Activities: 

Students wrote for 5 minutes about ther trip

We started reading a new book called Las aventuras de Isabela which has pretty easy vocabulary and the story line is pretty basic so students paired up and took turns reading chapters aloud and wrote down a basic summary of each chapter.

Class Activities: 

Students wrote what our frases hechas mean in their own words (below). Students taught each other the ones they missed while on their trip:

Students had the rest of class to work on their powerpoint presentation about their tourist destination in Mexico. Students will have class Thursday and will present on the 22nd.

Tarea: Chapter 5 in La maldición de la cabeza reducida

AS High Beginner: Tues Oct 8

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions in Spanish about Lucha Libre.
-Students were given feedback on their oral quizzes.
-We practiced with present tense conjugation.
-Students worked on their Luchador projects. We will have time on Thursday to work on these as well. They will be due Tuesday Oct 15.
-TAREA: work on project, if needed

3rd Period Matrix: Fri Oct 4

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced translating cooking directions into Spanish.
-Jordan led our daily routine.
-Students chose recipes for their project and began translating.
-I handed out some other helpful vocabulary for the project as well as to use the rest of the year.
-We will have next class to work and practice presenting. Presentations will begin on Friday Oct 11.
-TAREA: work on your project at home; directions can be hand written (if they are typed, then I also need a hand written copy)

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about the chiles y chocolate reading. We reviewed flavor vocabulary.
-We practiced verbs in present tense.
-We looked at photos of typical Aztec art, such as turquoise mosaic masks.
-We practiced with flavor vocabulary.
-TAREA: none **Students missing should study their flavor vocabulary at home
