1st Period Matrix w/ Kimber: Fri Oct 4

Class Activities: 

-We reviewed conversation questions and topics in Spanish.
-We practiced verb commands and parts of the body. We played Simon Dice (Simon Says).
-We learned some vocabulary for how to talk about how we look (eye color, hair, height, etc.). I will hand out a vocab list for this next week. We played a guessing game to practice with this vocab.
-We talked about the weather.
-TAREA: none ***There is no make up work today for students in Mark's class

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and quizzed each other on the 100 most common verbs

Students exchanged personal information (datos personals) using questions:
¿Cuál es tu...?
¿Cómo se escribe...?
Nombre, apellido
dirección (calle, ciudad, estado, código postal)
número de teléfono
dirección de correo electrónico (arroba, punto)

We went to the computer lab and students had a blank map of mexico and had to fill in various items written on the map (bodies of water, 5 main cities).

Tarea: study for test Friday the 11th of October on information below plus finish map:

* datos personales

AS High Beginner: Thurs Oct 3

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed present tense verbs and answered questions about a lucha libre poster.
-We watched a couple videos about lucha libre.
-I handed out instructions for our luchador project. We will begin working on Tuesday in class, so come prepared with ideas. I have attached the lined paper to use for the picture and sentences. The mask design can be on a separate piece of paper.
-TAREA: worksheet is due Tuesday (attached)

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and wrote for 5 minutes about their class trip.

We went over a lot of vocabulary related to time and students wrote down any vocabulary they didn't know in their personal dictionaries.

I briefly quizzed students on the 100 most common verbs.

We went to the computer lab and students finished their maps and started researching a tourist destination that they will make a powerpoint presentation about and present to the class.

Tarea: read through chapter 4 in La maldición de la cabeza reducida

Class Activities: 

We basically repeated the lesson from el 24 de septiembre because of student trips.

Students took a quick verb quiz practicing preterite, present, futuro próximo:

Students had some time in the computer lab with a blank map of Mexico and they had to fill in bodies of water, important cities, regions, geography and tourist attractions.

Class Activities: 

We basically repeated class from September 25th since these students were on their class trip.

Students arrived and fixed mistakes below:

3rd Period Matrix: Wed Oct 2

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions on the facts of Mexico.
-Students worked in partners to correct any mistakes on their homework.
-We reviewed command form.
-Students were given directions on our next project working with Mexican recipes (see attachment). Students may find their own recipe to bring in, or use books from my classroom to pick one out.
-TAREA: Bring in a recipe, if you want. If not, you may choose one in class on Friday.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Oct 2

Class Activities: 

-Students worked on a crossword puzzle about the chili y chocolate reading. We finished it together during class.
-We played pictionary for review.
-TAREA: none **Students absent or missing on trips can pick up the crossword puzzle from outside the classroom. Complete what you can at home, using the reading.
