Logan before school high intermediates 17 de abril de 2014

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and practiced their script that they would perform for Kimber's class. Students performed for Kimber's class.

We played a game practicing verb conjugations with our remaining time.

Tarea: study the phrases of the day. We will be cooking next class but will start the class with a quick quiz on phrases of the day. Students will be given a situation and have to match the correct phrase (Un estudiante va a actuar en una obra de teatro --> rómpete una pierna).

Students took attached quiz about words of the day.

We went over the schedule for the rest of the year which is cut short a bit because of class trips

Students will give a 10 minute presentation on May 16th about their artist. They should include information about the life of the artist, their important art and symbolism and themes. We had the rest of time in the computer lab to work on their presentation.

tarea: no hay (although several students didn't hand in their most recent homework due today)

3rd Period Matrix: Wed April 16

Class Activities: 

-Students described in Spanish. We went through some basic vocabulary and reviewed how to describe people and things. We also review the "ing" endings in Spanish- "iendo" and "ando" (Ex: She is eating: Ella esta comiendo)
-We will begin working on mini plays this Friday. We chose the two plays we will do, and I will split students into groups on Friday.
-We practiced the "Preposiciones" chant and vocab.
-We played Catch Phrase for practice with speed and common vocab.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed April 16

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed use of preterite and imperfect tenses. We discussed when to use each type of past tense verb.
-We played "Quien tiene" for practice with speed and pronunciation.
-We played a flyswatter game with past tense verbs and meaning.
-TAREA: none

1st Period Matrix w/ Kimber: Wed April 16

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions in Spanish about Picasso.
-We practiced verb commands as a group.
-We continued talking about Spanish artists; we reviewed Picasso and discussed Diego Velazquez.
-We played the "Quien tiene" game for speed and pronunciation practice.
-TAREA: none; if you missed class, check with a classmate about the artist information.

Class Activities: 

Students quizzed each other on words of the day. We are going to have a quiz on the words on the day on Friday, so here are the most recent words/phrases of the day in case students missed writing any down:

Students worked on the attached trivia about Spain.

If students finished, they had time to start our next project: artists from Spain. In pairs students were assigned to, they will study and present one of 5 famous Spanish artists over the next several weeks.

Students shared the tapas recipes they brought in and we talked about what we want to make.

We played a game where students had to get their team to guess the words the student describes (without using the words).

Tarea: practice the script that we'll be performing for Kimber's class on Thursday

AS High Beginner: Tues April 15

Class Activities: 

-Students read out loud in partners a reading on "Tapas", a typical food in Spain. They began answering questions about the reading.
-We reviewed numbers 1-1,000 with a game.
-We played pictionary with the new kitchen/cooking vocab.
-TAREA: Finish the "Tapas" reading and questions. (Copies are outside in the folder, or come see me)
