Logan high intermediates: class 3/5/13 Literatura hispana

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and completed a reading comprehension activity from the Diploma de español como lengua extranjera. We are going to work toward taking the B2 test by the end of the year.

We talked about Pablo Neruda and what students know about him. Students are each going to present a poem of his next Tuesday.

Class Activities: 

Students labeled parts of animals vocabulary on the attached worksheet and we went over it as a class.

We went over vocabulary of measurements:

We went to the computer lab for students to work on studying their animal.

Tarea: have rough draft for Wednesday of their text about their animal popular in the Spanish-speaking world.

Logan high intermediates: Costa Rica y verbs, examen 2/28/13

Class Activities: 

Students took test about verbs and information they learned about Costa Rica.

We went over vocabulary related to jewelery plus a word of the day: mataburros.

Students read a quick and easy play out loud.

We are going to study for our next unit literature of the Spanish-speaking world and we are going to start with poet Pablo Neruda.

Tarea: students should start learning some about the life and poetry of Pablo Neruda. Each student will read and present a poem of his next Thursday. Students should also study their personal dictionary since I will be quizzing students on their dictionary next week.

-We reviewed several topics from last year and earlier this year, including "tener" phrases, "gustar", matching nouns and adjectives, and present tense verbs.
-HOMEWORK: none, we will finish our story next week.

Class Activities: 

-Students practiced with review topics.
-I handed back previous homework assignments so students could look over their mistakes.
-We finished the story we began on Wednesday.

Before School: Beginner 3/1

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed clothing vocabulary and use of the verb "tener". We also reviewed how to match our endings match when using adjectives to describe a noun.
-We talked about the verb "llevar", and how it is used to describe what someone is wearing.
-HOMEWORK: None. Attached is a sheet describing the verbs we discussed in class.

Before School: High Beginner 2/28

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed articles in Spanish that we discussed on Tuesday.
-We practiced with commands/action words and reviewed some body parts.
-Students read about the music and dance of merengue (copies of reading outside my classroom). We listened to a few merengue songs, watched clips of dancing, and learned the dance ourselves.
-HOMEWORK: Worksheet on merengue (see attachment) ***Sheet given in class has questions on merengue AND bolero--Answer only those for merengue

Class Activities: 

-We went over several review topics involving common conversational topics.
-Students practiced conversation questions in partners.
-I handed out clothing vocabulary that we will be using for our next topic. We practiced pronunciation together. Student should look over these words at home in order to be prepared for class. Copies can be found outside my classroom.
-HOMEWORK: Look over clothing vocabulary at home.
