Before School: High Beginner 5/14

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed sentences used in our stories.
-We talked about two types of verbs in the past tense: preterite and imperfect (see attachment).
-We looked at how to conjugate verbs in imperfect form and students filled out their own verb sheets (see attachment).
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet on imperfect tense (see attachment). Also, finish filling out the verbs sheet we began in class.

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs in the past tense.
-We played a game to practice conjugation in past and present tense.
-We discussed how to talk about the future in Spanish (see attachment).
-HOMEWORK: worksheet on future tense (see attachment). STUDENTS ON CLASS TRIPS DO NOT HAVE WORK TO MAKE UP

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs in the present tense.
-The class practiced conversation questions in partners.
-I handed out instructions for the final project and students began making decisions about what they will include in theirs.
-HOMEWORK: none (STUDENTS ON TRIPS DO NOT HAVE WORK TO MAKE UP)

Logan intermediates 5/8/13 Mi vida loca

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and practiced cooking vocabulary for the first 5 minutes of class.

Students had the remainder of class to film their Mi vida loca video. Several students didn't finish so will film first thing on Friday morning (ideally arriving a little early to class).

Friday, we will start cooking and I will bring ingredients for the first few cooking classes.

Tarea: Edited videos (studens can add music, subtitles, etc) are due next Friday. We will be watching the videos the last day of class.

Class Activities: 

-Students answered questions about the history and celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We talked about the difference between this holiday and Mexican Independence Day on Sept 16.
-We reviewed verbs in the present tense and played a group game.
-HOMEWORK: Students have a worksheet to complete (see attachment).

Logan high intermediates: class 5/7/13

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and wrote a sentence using each of the verbs below:

  1. dañar
  2. apagar
  3. quejarse
  4. perder
  5. preocuparse

Students had 15 minutes to interview each of our visitors today: Liza Prado and Whitney Allen. Interview conversations were about the importance of Spanish, travel, and how our visitors have used Spanish in their lives.

Tarea: write a short text about what students learned from our visitors.
