We talked about group Calle 13 and students drew images to their song Ojos Color Sol. We listened to the song and filled in missing lyrics. The full lyrics are attached.

Tarea: spend a few minutes analyzing the song and we'll spend the first 5 minutes of class talking about it.

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Nov 5

Class Activities: 

-Students used sentences to describe a famous person. They presented their sentences and we tried to guess who they chose to describe.
-We talked about the theme for 2nd quarter: Arte, Musica, y Baile.
-We played a game for practice with some basic vocab.

AS Beginner: Wed Nov 5

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs in "Yo" and "Nosotros" form.
-We practiced verb commands.
-Students practiced conversation questions in partners.
-I handed back all the journal pages from the Incan Trail. Students worked on creating a cover page for their journal.
-We began talking about the next theme, Arte, Musica, y Baile.

Class Activities: 

Students arrived and wrote down 20 words about music they know.

Our theme this quarter is arte, música y baile. We're first going to talk about artists nominated for the 2014 Latin Grammy. Students received the attached worksheet and we went to the computer lab so that they could learn about the artists.

Students arrived and talked about their music tastes with a partner.

Students were grouped up and had to come up with vocabulary having to do with music

We listened to and students reported about what they understood about these videos having to do with news about Latin Grammy 2014 nominations, 2nd video, 3rd video.

Tarea: bring in list of nominees for one of the categories (best song, best album, etc).

AS High Beginner: Tues Nov 4

Class Activities: 

-Students reviewed verbs in present tense.
-Students practiced conversation in partners.
-We began talking about our next theme: Arte, Musica, y Baile
-Students learned new vocab about music and awards. We began discussing the Latin Grammy Awards.
-TAREA: Students have an internet hunt to complete on the Latin Grammy Awards. I have extra copies in my classroom if needed (I cannot attach at this time).

2nd Period Matrix: Wed Oct 29

Class Activities: 

-Students translated sentences from the board. We discussed the difference between first person and third person in Spanish.
-Students practiced conversation questions in partners.
-Students created their own skeleton characters for Day of the Dead. They wrote sentences to describe them.
